Last updated 16 October 2026

Roughly is run by Crosstalk Studios. This explains what we collect and what we do with it. We aim to follow the Australian Privacy Principles.

Getting an estimate

You don't need to give us any personal information to see an estimate. We keep an anonymous record of the answers you gave (like the type of job, its size and finish) and the estimate we showed, so we can see what jobs people price. It contains no name, contact details or IP address. Roughly doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Asking for a real quote

Only if you choose to, you can send your estimate to a local business we name on the form. If you tick the consent box, we collect your name, suburb, phone and/or email and any notes you add, and send them with your estimate to that one business, so they can contact you about a quote. We keep a copy of the request and the consent you gave, as a record.

We never sell your details, never send them to anyone other than the business you chose, and never use them to contact you ourselves.

Who handles the data

Roughly is hosted by Vercel and its database by Neon; some of their servers are outside Australia, including in the United States. Once the business you chose receives your request, it handles your details under its own privacy policy.

How long we keep it

Quote requests are kept for 12 months, then deleted. Anonymous estimate records may be kept longer.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct or delete a quote request you sent. Contact Crosstalk Studios through the business you were sent to, or at the address shown when Roughly launches. If you're unhappy with how we handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
