Pool barriers in the ACT

Since 1 May 2024, pool and spa barriers must be kept in good repair, and every gate, door and cover that gives access must be kept shut when the pool isn't in use.
From 1 May 2028, every home pool and spa must have a barrier that meets the current safety standard, unless it's exempt.
Pools built, altered or installed before 1 May 2013 need a compliance certificate from an authorised person by 30 April 2028, lodged with the ACT Government within 30 days.
If you sell or lease a home with a pool, you must disclose information about it.
